Robotron 2084
GAME SUMMARY
Robotron 2084 is a fast-paced twin-stick arcade shooter where you must survive relentless waves of enemies while protecting the last remaining humans. Armed with rapid-fire movement and shooting in all directions, you’ll need quick reflexes to dodge swarms of robotic attackers, rescue civilians for points, and stay alive as the chaos intensifies.
MY CONTRIBUTION
I built a from-scratch C and OpenGL remake of the classic twin-stick shooter, which earned Best Overall Game in my cohort showcase.
Gameplay & Engine Systems
- Used object-oriented C with vtables, function pointers, and callbacks for modular draw/update dispatch and dynamic object management.
- Implemented high-performance object pooling for bullets, enemies, and obstacles during chaotic gameplay.
- Built sprite animation and vertex-color effects for eight-directional movement, explosions, strobing, and level transitions.
- Recreated frenetic enemy behaviors, including diagonal grunts, sinusoidal spheroids, and random quarks.
- Implemented AABB collision with type-specific handlers, probabilistic wave spawning, and persistent high-score storage.

Gamefolder and launch the executable. - Move with W, A, S, D.
- Shoot in every direction with I, J, K, L. Don’t stop moving.
